Who is MARE

(pronunciation: mar)

The Marion Alliance for Racial Equity (known as MARE) was formed June 2020, as a result of a growing urgency for our community to address racial inequities and injustices.

We exist to elevate the voices and experiences of people of color in Marion, IA.

We also aim to create spaces and a culture in Marion, IA that is welcoming and inclusive for all people.

    MARE will hold Community Meet Ups periodically as issues and events arise.

    Our Meet Ups offer a time to discuss issues with one another and to share care and action.

    We will update this page as more information is available about future Meet Ups.

    The MARE education committee invites you to explore captivating stories, meet new friends, and discover the joy of reading in a welcoming environment.

    Where: Marion Public Library

    When: Sunday, April 14th at 1:30pm

    Who: Children of all abilities and interests are welcome!
